It's Raining!

Of course we have beautiful weather during spring break. And finally when the local schools get to enjoy a week without classes it rains and rains and rains. It's really unfair. But I love to just walk outside and take a big deep breathe! The air is so fresh and pure. Well all except for the paper mill in Panama City that produces a terrible smell every now and again. nasty.

I just thought I would share my thought for the day! Not a lot of new stuff going on. We are just taking it easy. Spending a few afternoons at the beach or just chillin at home. Although we are getting a little stir crazy so a road trip might be in the near future!

Don't walk near the street!

Something has been boggling my mind the last few weeks. I can't believe it or maybe it's because I have never noticed it before. Since I work at a bank we get the paper everyday. Most of the time the news and the paper are focused on negative stories so I stay away.

But I can't help it...I am addicted to the Squall line. It's full of funny comments left by other readers. Anyways, at work we flip to the Local & State section and begin reading the squall line. Once we get a good laugh out of that we read the thought of the day, and our horoscopes out loud. None of us believe a word about our horoscope so don't think this is a "I believe in New Age" blog because, it's not! We just laugh and say..."let's see what kind of person I have to deal with today"...or..."I wonder what great things will happen to me today. hardy-har-har!!" Really it just gives us a minute to get paid for non-work related time. heehe

While we grab the paper in the morning there is always a picture for the front page story. Today (similar to other days) is a crime scene picture of a CSI taking a picture of shoes on the street. (yes I said shoes) This morning the victim a 48-year old lady walking 2 blocks from her house, crossing the road to the bus stop and was hit by a car. The car fled the scene and later today they found the vehicle but not the driver.

Apparently, this is really sad, we (Panama City area) has a lot of hit-and-runs happen. Yep, you are just walking down the street or crossing the road and you get hit by a car...and die. And the idiot that hit you with the vehicle just drives away. I mean what kind of people walk the close to the road...or don't look before they cross the road..or just have bad luck. And what kind of people don't stop to see if they ran over a dog or a freakin human being. My goodness people if you are going to drive carelessly at least look out for other people walking.

Here is the link to an article relating to the front story today....and below the link is what that article says about the last few days around town.

http://www.newsherald.com/news/car_72841___article.html/pedestrian_possible.html

"Tuesday's death is the third serious hit and run in Bay County since Friday. According to the Panama City Beach Police, Sean Dewitt Nichols, 19, was driving a Chevy Impala at about 5 a.m. Friday when it struck pedestrian Freddy Garcia, who was crossing Front Beach Road near Sharky's bar. Nichols failed to stop at the scene, and the Impala was found abandoned about a mile away, police said. After abandoning the car, Nichols contacted his friend, Christopher Todd Schei, 19, who picked him up and drove him away from the area, hindering law enforcement efforts to investigate the incident, police said.

Nichols was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury and violation of drivers license restrictions. Schei was charged with being an accessory after the fact. Garcia was taken to the hospital but had suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Then on Monday Randy Nolan, 20, of Auburn, Ala., was killed after he was struck by a 2009 black Nissan Altima that left the roadway near the 14000 block of Front Beach Road, according to Beach investigators. Nolan had been walking east on the south side of Front Beach Road around 3:30 a.m.

The driver of the Altima, 20-year-old Dakota Matthews, was killed minutes later when he crashed his vehicle while leaving the scene of the first accident, investigators said.

Police said Matthews continued east on Front Beach Road after striking Nolan, merging onto the 10000 block of Middle Beach Road into oncoming traffic and forcing a Beach police officer, who was responding to the accident, off the road.

Matthews continued eastbound on Middle Beach Road for about a half-mile when his Nissan collided head-on with a 2004 Ford pickup truck, authorities said. The impact of the collision caused the 2004 Ford to strike a 2003 Ford truck.

Matthews was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:35 a.m., authorities said.

The drivers and passengers in the other vehicles suffered minor injuries."

New Love

I have fallen in love with a new website. Etsy.com is full of homemade creative artsy vintage stuff. I LOVE IT! It has given me just enough inspiration for me to start doing some "crafty" stuff of my own. Or at least a few new ideas for me to try. For instance, I have a few pieces of my Grandma Walls' jewelry that I love, but just haven't worn. So I'm going to try to revamp a few pieces, to show off Grandma's taste in a new light. I'll post some before and afters when I finally get around to it. I've never done anything in jewlery so this is going to be quite interesting. Wish me luck!

Spring Break 2009 has arrived

It's here people....Spring break 2009. MTV hit the PCB sometime last week. Today, Kenny Chesney put on a free Concert on the beach. And later this month my all time favorite sport, Beach Volleyball will be here...did I say PRO beach volleyball. Yeah baby....I just might have to make an appearance for that event! So excited! As far as Spring Break drama, we have a couple condos around us that have rented out to the "breakers," they like to be loud at night and leave trash everywhere. It's kinda annoying, but what are we gonna do...wake up at 2 am to a car alarm going off, then people yelling at eachother. Or maybe see some things happening outside our house in the "breakers" car...yikes!

However among all the wildness of college kids swarming the town, we have managed to enjoy the beach! It's awesome to just go for a couple hours during the day, knowing we can just come back the next day if we want. We live here!!

Next time I go to the beach I will take my camera, so I can share my experience with my bloggers!
